They may be cheap but the quality is surprisingly -  the basin waste is still metal bodied yet is priced under £4 (many cheap wastes have plastic bodies).

We specialise in speciality kitchen taps

Everyone does kitchen taps, there's so much competition it's hard to stand out and when you do often you have to sell at such low prices you can't make a decent margin.
We know that however nice our taps are, we have to accept that we'll never be the best at selling them.
It's hard to accept that you should walk away from a market (well not walk away but not bother with) but we should specialise and play to our strengths and that's exactly what we're doing with the kitchen taps.
So our area of speciality has become Bridge kitchen mixers and wall mounted kitchen taps. We have an extensive range, offer products that our competitors don't bother with, understand the products and provide fast delivery from stock.
....It works generating good regular sales of these speciality kitchen taps!

Look and you'll sometimes find...I was going through one of our supplier catalogues and found an 18mm tap aerator which we are adding to our range of spare aerators.
We'll try to get a few in stock straight away in case we get any orders (that's bound to be the case if we leave it till after the Christmas break)

We've been busy bees

Hot on the heels of our new dental drawer inserts, we've introduced a new look with new icons for the bathroom safety division and hand hygiene products.
We've also extended the safety grab rails with new extra long and angled sets from Hafele of Germany.

As an extension of the products supplied to dentists, we now offer Dental Drawer Inserts. They take us into a new area and come from our latest supplier Hafele who are probably the largest supplier of furniture components in Europe.
made from hygienic HIPS plastic they come in designs to suit 38mm and 90mm deep drawers with a variety of storage compartments to suit all dental furniture and different dentists' requirements.
...They're also right for labs!

Bathroom makeover time

One of the best ways to give a bathroom a makeover is to replace the taps.
We're making it easy to do with our new collection of complete and ready to fit bathroom tap packs.
Our latest pack is the classically styled Edwardian bathroom tap pack - an all water systems/ low water pressure pack comprising bath shower mixer and matching basin pillar taps.
It's got lovely lines which really stand out when put on a traditional white bathroom suite.

What do prisons & schools have in common?

What do prisons & schools have in common? They both require stainless steel mirrors!
They need them for 2 very different reasons...
Schoolkids love to break things and glass mirrors would be broken very quickly, in prisons glass would be broken to be used as lethal weapons.

We've researched the standards of hygiene within the tattoo industry and there's clearly room for improvement.
The most striking fact was that people getting tattooed are nine times more likely to contract hepatitis C than those who don't get tattooed.
The research took in a number of documents from best practice guidelines laid down by local councils to research by Baxter, M Rense.

Quick fix for burst leaking pipes

Burst  pipes always happen at the worst possible time...mid winter, when you're out visiting friends, gone on holiday etc etc.
If that's happened to you then here's a brilliant new tool - Leak-Mate is a quick fix for burst pipes.
It simply clamps around any pipe (copper, plastic or lead) and seals it until a permanent repair is made.
Just what I needed when a pipe burst in our garage one winters morning!

Pressure Reducing Valves

We do the taps, the fittings and pretty much everything else that dispenses water as long as the water reaches the fitting at a reasonable pressure.
What if the water is coming in at too higher pressure? It needs to be controlled by a pressure reducing valve.
This is a device that sets and maintains the water pressure at a safe level and is for many appliances other than taps such as dishwashers, washing machines etc.
We have selected the Intatec Pressure Reducing Valves because their valves which are made in Italy with full WRAS approved, provide a more accurate and reliable control than many of the cheaper copies from China.

So What's Been Happening?

Here's what's been happening the last few days..
On Monday we hit a new record number of order for the day - 45 orders!
And today we've launched our Water Clearing & Drain Unblocking category, offering unblockers, openers, limescale descalers plus the gloves and protective goggles.

A New Record

It's 9.00pm and we've hit a new record for daily orders.
Order numbers have been rising for some time and seem to correlate with a similar rise in visitor numbers where we have been seeing numbers running at 1600-1800 per day.
I'm calling it a day now so it will be interesting to see Notjusttaps' final numbers in the morning.

Stainless Steel Kitchen Mixers

We now offer stainless steel kitchen taps!
Made by Alliance Sanitary, we have launched four different single lever operated designs including a pull out spray model. Each one is a full swivel spout model that incorporates ceramic disc cartridge technology and is backed up not only by Alliances' warranty but also by our extensive spares department which carries replacement valves for all these taps.

600 wide medical washbasin

We've added an extra wide 60cm medical washbasin to our range  of medical products. It comes either with no tap hole for use with wall mounted taps or with a single hole (either left or right handed) for use with single lever mixer or sequential taps.
Available as a special order product through Robert Lee Distribution, the washbasin is part of the Twyfords Solo range and is not just wider than standard  but deeper too so providing a large, spacious washing facility.

Ophardt Hygiene

Our Ophardt Hygiene range is now live!
Aimed squarely at the professional market, their products include hospital standard soap dispensers, glove dispensing stations plus ancillaries such as towel dispensers and bins.
Whilst not cheap, these products prove surprisingly cost effective in the long term due to features such as low cleaning costs, reduced consumable costs and ultra long term reliability backed up by a full 5 year warranty.

Automatic Syphons

If you've ever wandered how  urinals regularly flush, it's done with an Automatic Syphon - a simple (aren't all the best products simple?) device that fits in a cistern, regularly operating to produce regular timed flushes.
These are generally used in commercial only applications where high public use requires this type of syphon
It's a new line for us to go with the domestic syphon repair kits so we've chosen the Wirquin Professional Automatic Syphons  - not the cheapest but for commercial users quality and reliability are our first priorities.

Wenko

We're filling a few gaps with the introduction of Wenko as our latest supplier.
There'll be new novelty toilet seats, suction bathroom accessories plus more things to follow.
They seem to hit the spot for decent products at fair prices plus they have a great selection of novelty toilet seats - an area where we have struggled to locate decent suppliers.

Extra Long Shower Riser Rail

We listen to our customers - we really do!
One contacted us to say they were looking for a shower riser rail that was much longer than most on the market.
We did have a look but couldn't find any until today. I was browsing one of our supplier catalogues and found a number of risers that had 90cm useable rail length (that's 50% longer than standard) so now it's on sale on Notjusttaps - you can see it here: Extra Long Riser Rail
This is where we try to be different....finding unusual and hard to obtain bathroom products!

Hart Medical

We've launched our new 'Hart Medical by Reginox' range of sinks for the dental, medical and decontamination markets.
Made by Reginox in Holland, the range includes special value dental sinks for £60 ex VAT and ultra high capacity sinks for holding instruments and materials that normal sinks can't hold.
We already have one of the biggest ranges of medical sinks in the UK and this addition further strengthens our offer with a variety of new options.

3rd September - another record for orders taken!

Kitchen Tap Spares

The hoses used in pull out taps seems to be an item that regularly goes wrong - an item that we supply in a choice of either braided steel (the same material as tap flexible connectors) or  woven nylon - both with 15mm male connections.

These connections suit many tap makes but we do get calls from customers asking for a female connection which we haven't been able to offer...but now we can!
Our range now includes a Pull out hose with 12mm female connection

We waited long enough!

The sales have been consistently moving up and there's been a clear sense things are more buoyant.
Most days this month have seen sales well above average and yesterday at very long last we blasted through our previous best with a new daily record of 37 orders....Yaaay!
Hopefully more to come soon as the trend seems to be continuing upwards.

Remote Running Traps

A small and often overlooked aspect of HTM64 compliance for sanitary fittings is that it is preferable for the running trap (the bottle trap) to be remote eg away from the  waste outlet.
So to compliment our speciality traps we are introducing HTM Remote Running Traps in both 1.25" and 1.5" BSP sizes - 1.5" being for sinks and 1.25" for basins.
It should be noted that these should be fitted in conjunction with 'plugless' free flowing wastes.

Shower Hose Spares

Normally you simply screw on a shower hose onto your shower valve, outlet  or bath mixer.
Sometimes it's not that simple as the size of the outlet may be different, the hose isn't long enough for what you want to use it for or it could be that it simply doesn't seal.
To deal with these situations, we've created a Shower Hose Spares section at the end of our shower hose page that offers some useful practical parts for dealing with just these situations.

MIRA Spares

Prices have gone up across the board on MIRA spares.
On average the increase runs between 15-20%. We seemed to be getting a lot more interest in MIRA spares recently - probably due to us having 'too cheap' out of date prices!
Our prices are still very competetive and they're certainly not cheap to start with but that's what you get with a top brand - you can buy a complete new shower for the cost of their spares.

Plumbing Consumables

We listen to suppliers, we listen to customers!
As a result we've introduced a range of plumbing consumables for use by professional and amateur alike.
The range includes items such as super strong epoxy adhesives, PVC cements, silicones for o rings and general plumbers greases form leading brands including JB and Black Swan of the USA.

Cisterns Update

Our toilet and cistern spares have seen a marked increase in interest.
This is the result of a two pronged attack:
1. We've expanded the cistern spares category to include new syphons (the picture shows the Unisyphon by SIAMP) together with new ballvalve arms, complete cisterns and even ballvalve washer repair boxes.
2. We've tailored our google adwords campaign to target cistern spares.
The result.....more visitors and a noticeable increase in orders.

Tap Tools

As we supply all the tap fixings, it makes sense to offer our customers the tools to help make it easier to fit the taps.
We've introduced 2 different Tap Nut Spanners - one for 1/2" and 3/4" backnuts and the other for monobloc tap tails.
They are especially helpful when access to space is tight or when a tap is particularly hard to get to!

Delchem Ball Valves

Spares are what we're all about!
We are looking to expand our toilet and cistern spares to achieve the same quality of range as we offer for tap spares.
This means it needs to be a combination of range, depth of range, clear information, stock availability and expert knowledge and support.
We've expanded a lot today with the additions of ball valve spares, cisterns, and Delchem Adjustable Filling Valves
No doubt there'll be lots to learn as this range develops

Nursery School Taps

I love these new nursery school taps by Intatec.
They're cute, fun taps that encourage children to wash their hands and adopt good hygiene practices
As part of our school range, we also supply the mixing valves, spares and fixings required to go with the taps plus as always they're backed up by Notjusttaps superb customer service.
I know that's bragging but we really are superb!

Screw In Thermostatic Shower Cartridge

There are 2 sorts of replacement shower cartridges - push fit and screw in.
Our push fit seem to suit most makes but our screw in cartridge by Kerox doesn't.
Well that's been the case up till now anyway!
So at last we've introduced a new Standard Fit Screw In Thermostatic Cartridge that should be compatible with most brands that need a screw in cartridge
The only thing that still needs sorting is a decent photo but for now we're having to use our suppliers picture and it's not great!
It's on the website now and available from Monday!

Dental Taps & Sinks

To meet the urgent deadlines often requested for Dental Sinks & Taps , we offer a next working day service for orders received by Midday for all core dental products such as the Scandi stainless sinks and our Extended Lever basin tap (shown in the above picture) - the industry standard for elbow taps that is excellent value yet complies with all relevant standards including HTM64
And if goods are needed for the weekend we can even supply a Saturday delivery service if ordered in time on Friday.

MGM Taps

We're expanding the products we buy from MGM Taps!
Up till now we have used them for a selection of spares, but as their products offer such great value we will be offering a selection of bathroom & kitchen taps priced very competitively for customers on a very tight budget.
The nice thing is their service is so fast so we can respond to orders in days rather than weeks!

Gold Towel Racks

As a service to our customers we offer a gold plating service where any towel rack can be gold plated. These are plated and hand finished to order by Alpha Electroplaters of Sheffield.
However this involves a wait of up to 14 days so for customers who want something sooner, we have put into stock the Gedy Towel Racks supplied by Bathroom Origins in gold.
This is real gold (not a synthetic finish) so will be a quality match for bathrooms with gold taps or accessories.

Arboles Lab Taps

Exciting times...we'll shortly be launching an essential range of Lab Taps by Arboles of Spain
There will be both gas and water taps for use in the educational, laboratory and pharmaceutical markets together with safety showers and eye washes.
As we already supply medical & thermostatic fittings to institutional & educational customers, these will be both natural add ons and also should open up a whole new market for us
We plan to launch by the end of July!

Making Adwords Work

Our marketing has relied primarily on a combination of SEO and customer recommendation with very little advertising.
Many customers came to us as 'they found us on the web' - Notjusttaps is a website that ranks well on the search engines.
There are loads of so called experts who claim to get you to the top of Google but the simple fact is there are 10 slots on the first page and thousands of sites fighting for one of those places so you can't guarantee a top slot.
We've found that the SEO basics do work - proper content, age of website, correct site layout and relevancy to the products you're selling - plus we we're too frightened to try anything incorrect in case we were penalised.
Having said the above, we've been giving Adwords a try and have found it to be incredibly effective for targeted products. We have been promoting our Tap Spares and have found that as these are products people are actively looking for, our conversion rate has been remarkably high (5-10%)
So do I recommend Adwords? Absolutely...but only as long as it promotes a core offer or need.

Lever Bib Taps

Our wall mounted kitchen collection has been expanded with the addition of wall mounted lever bib taps
Although we offer a contract set already, these will appeal to customers  requiring higher levels of hygiene owing to their levers which can be turned without using your hands

Bath Wastes

Notjusttaps' range of bath wastes has been extended to cover pretty much every option required.
Not only are there conventional bath wastes with plug and chain, there are parking wastes to hold the plug, pop up wastes and filler wastes that combine a pop up waste function with that of a bath filler.
There are also spares for the bath wastes including plugs, chains and pop up plugs and most of these are now available in gold plated finishes as well as chrome.
So if we can't cover someones bath wastes I'd love to know what it is!

Breech Shower Valve

Breech shower valves are the simplest, most forgiving type of shower valve you can use.
As they have seperate compression (wind down) valves for hot and cold it means that they are suitable for all water systems and water pressures.

900mm Long Flexible Hose Pipe Tap Tail Connectors

Customers inspire us and as a result of a conversation with one customer we have decided to introduce 900mm tap flexitail hose connectors
Up till now the largest size has been 600mm, but this new size wll not just suit basin or kitchen taps but will also be long enough for free standing bath tap where the hose needs to run the complete length of the standpipes

Understanding BSP Sizes

When members of the public call, they sometimes get confused about the BSP sizes that we mention on our site.
It's quite understandable as BSP sizes are not the same as true Imperial sizes (often people think it means British Standard Plumbing when in fact it means British Standard Pipe)

The cabinets are compact so will fit in all shapes and sizes of bathroom.
They're made from stainless steel, are complete with wall fixings, one internal shelf and come in a choice of 3 vibrant colours: Lime Green, Blue and Pink

How do I switch off the water to my taps?

A common question we're asked is 'how do I switch off the water to my taps?'
If you don't have isolator or service valves it's not that easy and can mean shutting the water at the mains.
So it's always good practice to fit isolator service valves (sometimes called ballofix or ballfix valves) which can be closed simply by turning the valve with a screwdriver.
These should be fitted to taps, showers  and other domestic appliances including washing machines.
As part of tap accessories, we are now supplying Isolator Service Valves available as either 1/2" BSP to 15mm compression which goes between tap flexitails and copper pipe, and 15mm x 15mm compression which goes between copper pipe.
Each isolator valve is screw operated - something that prevents accidental shutting of a valve

Shower Mounting Wall Plate Elbows

 

The direction for Notjusttaps seems to be concentrating on the supply of spares and service parts (together with the supply of medical sanitaryware) rather than standard bathroom products which are available from just about every retailer, often at unrealistically low prices which we can't compete with.
So in this vein, we now have for sale Wall Plate Elbows as part of our shower spares range.
These are wall unions that allow for surface mounting of all makes of exposed shower valves.

New Tap Cartridges

Notjusttaps already has one of the most extensive range of replacement tap cartridges and valves in the UK.
This has been further extended with the introduction of Kerox as a new supplier. New products from Kerox include a 45mm diameter cartridge for bath mixers and screw in replacement thermostatic shower cartridges (as against push fit type cartridges)

It's an easy to instal fitting that goes on bath mixer taps or on shower systems and shuts off the water using a fast acting wax cartridge if the temperature goes over 48 degrees.

Building on our disabled theme, we've added to the arthritis taps by adding a replacement disabled tap lever
It's a universal fitting lever for all types of single lever tap and can be operated by hand, wrist or elbow so makes life much easier for disabled, elderly and arthritis sufferers...And it also looks like a proper lever rather than having the cheap institutional look of many of a plastic lever.

March - A great month for sales

March was a record month for Notjusttaps.
Not only was it our best month ever for sales, it broke previous records by a massive margin.
We're delighted that our hard work is paying off but also because we're conscious that a lot of businesses are not finding things easy.
Now my worry is how to maintain the sales growth!

How to stop a shower head dropping

When a university  contacted us to ask for something to stop shower heads dropping on the floor and breaking, we weren't able to help
Now we can....with the introduction of our Shower Hose Retainer.
By fixing it to the wall at a suitable height, it stops the shower  handset being dropped on the ground and breaking - particularly ideal for schools, universities, rental properties etc

We had a good visit to ISH finding more products for Notjusttaps' medical side including stainless drinking fountains, safety products and more spares
The only downside was waiting on the tarmac at Heathrow for 2  hours due to the bad weather in Frankfurt.

Just launched on our website today, we've added to our vanity unit collection with 3 new ready to go vanities.
Available in white, oak or maple finishes they are only 26cm deep so will go in the smallest spaces - they're perfect for cloakrooms.

As we normally talk about practical, utility bathroom products, it's nice to have something a bit funky and colourful to talk about.

Single tap valves

 

We recently started selling single hot tap valves (clockwise opening) and this lead to the obvious question why not offer the cold valve?
Good point really so we have now introduced a replacement single cold valve (right turn opening)
Now that our range includes single side quarter turn tap valves it means customers can simply buy one valve rather than a set.
They just need to make sure they have properly checked which side is leaking

HTM64

Our HTM64 range of compliant taps and sinks is being extended with the introduction soon of HTM64 toilet and pans.
Made by RAKceramics , these are special rimless designs that are easier to clean and keep clean. They are particularly suited to residential homes, care homes and hospitals.

Beauty Therapy Hygiene

We've made reference to the hygiene requirements of the beauty therapy in an article on our Notjustapscommercial website.
As part of our 'medical' division, we plan to build the ranges of products available from Notjusttaps for the beauty sector with products suitable for anyone from hairdressers to beauty therapists, spas and salons

I Give Up Guessing

January has been a very strange month for Notjusttaps!
We've had records by value, then stretches of really poor days and then visitor numbers shooting up which would suggest good things to come.
Today has been fantastic and it could make a record if orders continue to come in at the same rate they have been today, BUT....
If I say too much I'll tempt fate so I'll give up guessing and assume that we won't hit that record.
If I'm wrong then I'll be very happy to say so on another post

Completing HTM64

In order to be fully HTM64 compliant, installations require special elbow taps, sinks without overflow plug or chain holes, waste outlets that are freeflowing and bottle traps that reseal (have backflow prevention)
This last area is now available from us with the introduction of HTM64 traps that include bottle traps by Armitage shanks and special low profile flexible traps by CME Wirquin.
This means that Notjusttaps can now supply everything required to complete a sanitary installation in compliance with all current regulations

One For Caravans

Intatec products are usually specified for the healthcare and medical markets so the Leisure Shower Valve breaks the mould.
It's a special vertical bar valve with TMV2 thermostatic control for use in  caravans, leisure industry and mobile homes.

Quarter Turn Tap Valves

We've introduced quarter turn tap valves with 24/8 spline configurations. This means 24 teeth and 8mm nominal diameter spline (it's actually 7.6mm)
These will suit customers whose taps have handles with this spline configuration. They're not as common our standard valves but all part of our goal of helping as many customers as possible.

HTM64 Sinks

Our offer of HTM64 sinks for the medical and hospital markets now includes new sinks manufactured in the UK by Pland Stainless.
The HTM64 sinks are surface/inset mounted sinks that come in either 920 or 1030mm width with the option of left or right handed drainers.
They are without overflow and have hole centres of 200mm rather than 180mm as found in normal sinks.

Soap Dispensers

We've changed our soap dispenser offer.
We've gone from cheaper consumer products to high level commercial use soap dispensers.
They include wall mounted dispensers, 'non touch' infra red dispensers for the medical markets and surface mounted pump action soap dispensers for fitting in conjunction with our stainless surface mounted sinks and washstations.

A busy Sunday

Lots going on at Notjusttaps today!
We've had the busiest Sunday ever (both in terms of number of orders and also by value)
It's exciting...maybe the economy is turning, maybe we're doing the right thing but I don't want to get too excited just in case.

We've also set up a new section dedicated to food hygiene.
The adherence to good health and safety practices is vital for everyone involved in the food business, especially those involved in catering to the public.
It's pretty timely bearing in mind that this week there was a serious outbreak of food poisoning at a pub in Essex where one of the customers died as a result.
Using our knowledge of the medical markets, we have created complete 'ready to go' washing facilities that provide the correct hand washing set up for anyone from small food outlets to large manufacturers. The new section can be found here: Washing equipment for food businesses

Flush Grated Medical Wastes

We've re organised how the medical flush grated wates are found.
And to further help customers we now offer a choice of 11/4" or 1 1/2" tails to fit either basins or sinks and allows them to comly with the requirement to be free flowing  and without  plug
